Proclamation recognizing Tyler E. Hartlep upon receiving the Eagle Scout Award.

WHEREAS, founded in 1910, the Boy Scouts of America is one of the largest scouting organizations and youth organizations in the United States, with more than 2.4 million youth participants. The Boy Scouts of America goal is to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities, educational programs, and, at older age levels, career-oriented programs in partnership with community organizations; and

 

     WHEREAS, Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program. After a lengthy review process, only four percent of Boy Scouts are granted the Eagle Scout rank, which requires earning at least 21 merit badges. The Eagle Scout must demonstrate Scout spirit, an ideal attitude based upon the Scout Oath, Law and Mission, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages; and

 

     WHEREAS, Tyler E. Hartlep, a member of Boy Scout Troop 22 in Mt. Lebanon, has recently met all necessary requirements to advance to the rank of Eagle Scout including a service project to benefit his community; and

 

     WHEREAS, Tyler’s project included building a trail sign kiosk and making improvements to the trail at Twin Hills Park in Mt. Lebanon; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Allegheny Council Member Robert Palmosina, do hereby commend and recognize Tyler E. Hartlep upon receiving the Eagle Scout Award, and congratulate him for dedicating time, leadership, creativity, and effort to making his community better.
