An Ordinance of the County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, authorizing the acceptance of thirty-two (32) acres of land located contiguous to the County’s Settlers Cabin Park.

Whereas for more than six decades, William K. Bane has been the owner of approximately thirty-two (32) acres of vacant land located along Cowan Road in the Borough of Carnegie, contiguous to the County’s Settlers Cabin Park, and identified in the Allegheny County’ Block and Lot System as Parcel 264-J-1 (hereinafter referred to as the “Property”); and
Whereas, Allegheny Land Trust has been working in conjunction with Mr. Bane to acquire the Property with the intention of donating the Property to Allegheny County. Upon taking ownership of the Property, the Parks Department will incorporate the Property into Settlers Cabin Park where it will preserve the land and care for it as part of the Park; and
Whereas, upon the recommendation of the Department of Parks, the County is requesting the approval of County Council to accept Allegheny Land Trust’s generous donation of the Bane Property; and
Whereas County Council is of the opinion that the acceptance of the donation of the Property and incorporating it into the County’s Settlers Cabin Park will inure to the benefit of the citizens of Allegheny County; and
Whereas, Article IV, Section 2(j) of the Allegheny County Home Rule Charter vests County Council with the power to accept a donation of real property on behalf of the County.
The Council of the County of Allegheny hereby enacts as follows:
SECTION 1. Incorporation of the Preamble.
The provisions set forth in the preamble to this Ordinance are incorporated by reference as set forth in their entirety herein.
SECTION 2. Authorization to Accept the Donation of Real Property.
