Motion of the Council of Allegheny County approving updated leave policies for Council staff members.

Whereas, pursuant to Article I, §E.1.i., the Executive Committee is “charged with making recommendations and approving actions regarding personnel matters.”; and
Whereas, on January 17, 2024, the Council’s Executive Committee met to discuss leave time for staff employed within the Office of County Council; and
Whereas, at this meeting, the Executive Committee voted to recommend that beginning immediately, all employees will begin with 15 days vacation; after 5 years, staff will begin with 20 days vacation; then after 10 years, staff will accrue one day per year until the maximum of 25 days is reached; and
Whereas at this meeting, the Executive Committee voted to recommend that beginning with all new hires, there will be no waiting period for receipt of sick time and parental leave.
The Council of the County of Allegheny therefore hereby moves as follows:
Council hereby approves the change in vacation, sick and parental leave policies described above to begin immediately upon passage of this Motion.
